An Extra Good Day!

One week from his close call and Kieran is feeling so much better, we're so relieved! It is just amazing what the right medicine can do in a short amount of time. Avalon told me that the whole school prayed for her little brother at morning prayers (over the pa. system).  The power of prayerful little ones.

I am fortunate enough to get to attend Mass on Wednesday with the school kids. Yesterday was beautiful as usual. Our parish is modeled after the shape of St. Peter's Basilica (except a lot smaller) http://www.vatican.va/various/basiliche/san_pietro/vr_tour/index-en.html  Don't get me wrong, its big! They can pack the whole school, k-8th, in and still have room for other parishioners but it's still small in comparison.

Anyway, the kindergarten sits up front along with any of the parents who come to celebrate Mass with them. Let me tell you that the view from the pew is breathtaking every time. The kids sound like angels when they sing and when they kneel some of their heads barely see over the pew in front of them. Regardless of their stature, they all participate in the Mass like pros. The children that can not receive are Blessed by the priest one at a time and after Mass they welcome the Eucharist in prayer and songs before returning to their classes. It's just lovely. I feel so privileged to attend with them.

After I picked Avalon up from school I got an email from her teacher. It said that the kids we so well behaved Father Dennis took the time to speak with them afterward and asked the teacher to let the parents know how much he appreciated the job we're all doing. Mrs. W, the teacher, said that after Mass the kids all had such an amazingly good day it was worth noting. Even their other teachers  (pe, art, etc.) mentioned something to her about their attitudes. Usually someone is having a rough day, I mean with that many kids you have to figure the odds aren't in their favor, but yesterday they had an extra special day of grace. I wonder if we took them to Mass everyday if the effect would compound : D ....wishful thinking, I know.

What a day!
